lijekNakon petnaestak godina ispitivanja terapijskih mogućnosti matičnih stanica, danas smo pred registracijom prvog staničnog pripravka za liječenje nekih neizlječivih bolesti. Uskoro bi u kliničku praksu trebao ući lijek koji ima mogućnost regeneracije tkiva. Američka agencija za hranu i lijekove FDA pokrenula je proceduru za hitnu registraciju prvoga lijeka od humanih matičnih stanica.

 

 

Lijek se sastoji se od matičnih stanica iz koštane srži dobrovoljnih davatelja koje su posebnom tehnologijom pripravljene za intravensku infuziju. Pokazalo se da matične stanice slijede upalne signale u tijelu i pomažu u regeneraciji oštećenih tkiva.


Kliničko ispitivanje provedeno je na pacijentima koji pate od reakcije odbacivanja transplantiranoga organa. Prochymal je također u završnoj fazi kliničkog istraživanja kojim se ispituje njegova učinkovitost u bolesnika s reakcijom transplantata primatelja koji su otporni na kortikosteroide te za Chronovu bolest. Očekuje se početak ispitivanja u liječenju dijabetesa tip 1.
