Malcolm Gladwell Gawande je nevjerojatno iskren, proza mu je duhovita i tečna, i ima jednu veliku poruku: i liječnici su ljudi, pogrešivi i nesavršeni. I upravo zbog toga, poboljšanja možemo očekivati tamo gdje bismo se najmanje nadali.

 

 

Ovo je knjiga o neuspjesima: kako do njih dolazi i što iz njih možemo naučiti. Iako se prvenstveno bavi medicinom, ona se odnosi na sve. Prozvali su je suvremenim remek-djelom – i to zaista i jest.

Atul Gawande je CEO neprofitnog zdravstvenog poduhvata kojeg su osnovali Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway i JPMorgan Chase kako bi pružili bolje rezultate, zadovoljstvo i troškovnu učinkovitost u skrbi. Obavlja opću i endokrinu kirurgiju u Brighamu i Ženskoj bolnici. Profesor je na Odsjeku za zdravstvenu politiku i upravljanje na Harvardu T.H. Chanova škola za javno zdravlje i profesor kirurgije Samuel O. Thier na Medicinskom fakultetu Harvard. Atul Bawande je pisac za časopis The New Yorker od 1998. godine i napisao je četiri bestselera New York Timesa: komplikacije, bolji, manifest kontrolnog popisa i smrtnost: medicina i što je bitno na kraju.
