kako-sam-prezivjelaPisana na temelju osobnog iskustva ova knjiga je istovremeno svjedočanstvo višegodišnje borbe s depresijom, kao i koristan priručnik s mnoštvom praktičnih savjeta u domeni ,self-help, literature. Polazeći od znanstveno dokazane teze da kemijska neravnoteža u mozgu uzrokuje psihičke promjene, autorica otkriva kako prepoznati obrazac depresivnog razmišljanja i uspješno ga promijeniti.

 

Rođena s nasljednom sklonošću depresiji u obitelji u kojoj je godinama trpjela seksualno nasilje, prerani gubitak majke bio je ,otponac, koji je potakao višegodišnja suicidalna razmišljanja. Pokušaji samoubojstva bili su, po vlastitom priznanju, pozivi u pomoć kojima je iskušavala svoju terapeutkinju, kao i sredstvo privlačenja pažnje porodice i okoline. Tek nakon tri neuspjela pokušaja i sedam godina začaranog kruga, uspjela se othrvati ovisnosti predoziranja u kriznim životnim trenucima.
 
saving-livesTražeći odgovore u sebi naišla je, uz pomoć iskusne terapeutkinje Sylvie, na vrelo duhovnosti koje je potakla meditacijom, molitvom i muzikom, te krenula putem psihičkog i fizičkog iscjeljenja. Danas, u 35. godini Susan Rose Blauner organizira Saving Lives Tour, održava predavanja i radionice, ima stabilnu ljubavnu vezu, a iako sama priznaje da će se do kraja života boriti sa suicidalnim mislima, našla je dovoljno snage i hrabrosti da s nama podijeli otkrivenu vjeru u sreću.

Preživjela sam osamnaest godina opsjednutosti suicidalnim mislima i tri suicidalna čina... U tom sam razdoblju tražila knjigu poput ove, ali je nisam pronašla, pa sam je napisala. Budući da sam odlučila promijeniti svoj um, danas živim divnim, ispunjenim životom. Da, katkad sam tužna i gnjevna, preopterećena i depresivna, ali više ne želim umrijeti... Nastavite čitati i budite uvjereni da možete preživjeti dok vas vlastiti mozak pokušava ubiti. Uz vas sam u svakoj riječi toga puta.
