Ovogodišnji Svjetski dan srca obilježit će se 29. rujna pod sloganom "Odabir za zdravo srce, za svakoga i svugdje". Bolesti srca i krvnih žila vodeći su uzroci smrti u cijelome svijetu i odgovorne su za 17,3 milijuna smrti svake godine, a očekuje se da će do 2030. taj broj porasti i do 23 milijuna. Povoljna je činjenica da se većina srčanožilnih bolesti može spriječiti izbjegavanjem čimbenika rizika, poput pušenja, nepravilne prehrane i nedovoljne tjelesne aktivnosti.
