Uzrok Mycoplama genitalium i Ureaplasma urealyticum uzrokuje nespecifične urogenitalne infekcije kod oba spola. Istraživanja pokazuju da se već novorođenčad oba spola može njima zaraziti tijekom prolaza kroz zaraženi porođajni kanal rodilje, ta je zaraza prolazna, a naseljavanje genitalnog sustava mikoplazmama u ljudi počinje nakon puberteta i ovisno je uglavnom o seksualnoj aktivnosti. Možete ih dobiti spolnim kontaktom i nespolnim putem intimnijim socijalnim kontaktom (na mjestima gdje dolazite u dodir sa tuđim rubljem, ručnicima , kod masera, kozmetičara, u solarijima). Znakovi Simptomi su iscjedak svrbež, peckanje, osjetljivost, bol i nelagoda. Česte su tzv. nespecifične upale mokraćne cijevi kod muškaraca, upale vrata maternice i upalne bolesti male zdjelice kod žena. Sve češće se povezuje s nastankom neplodnosti, prijevremenih porođaja i pobačaja. Liječenje Liječi se pomoću lijekova. Lijekovi kojima se liječe su doksicilin, azitromicin, linkomicin, klindamicin, ciprofloksacin ili ertritomicin, ovisi o uzročniku. Liječiti treba sve partnere, a nakon provedene terapije treba ponoviti nalaze obrisaka i urina te drugih sekreta i nakon 2-4 mjeseca zbog čestih recidiva infekcije. Ureaplasma urealyticum je malena bakterija iz grupe mikroplazmi, a izolirane su tri vrste uzročnika: Ureaplasma urealyticum, Mycoplasma hominis i Mycoplasma genitalium.
